How do you mend a broken heart?
My heart is heavy. Earlier today we said a bitter goodbye to the Grand
Boy, Jesse, and his mother. They have moved to Twentynine Palms in
anticipation of the return of Jesse's father, Matt, the Marine. Matt
has been in Japan, courtesy of the government, since last April.
So Jesse has been with us, living at our house, for the last 4 1/2
months. And I've really grown attached to the little guy. He's got a
lot of personality, laughs, plays, and has taken my heart. We have a
special bond. When Jesse is fussy and can't be comforted, his mom
brings him to me. I hold him close and can feel the tension drain from
his body. My tension decreases and we seem to melt into each other. I
sing in his ear and he falls asleep. It happens every time and gives me
a great feeling of joy.
So when I got home tonight it was with a heavy heart. Jesse wasn't
there. Since July he's been there just about every time
I've walked through the door. Not tonight. The house just felt big and
empty. It's amazing how a little person can fill our home and our
lives.
I'm sure that I'll be okay, but for now I'm sad. Good thing Jesse and
his parents are coming for Christmas and will be staying with us
through the holidays. I miss him and can't wait to see him
again..........
