Speaking of new yorkers, I bought my pocket pc (the one that won't go online and makes crappy recordings) from a refurb shop out there. I talked to the shop this morning and they said there was nothing they could do becuase I was beyond the 14 day return policy. I proved that today was in fact day 14, and then they said they could do something (exchange) but I would be better off with toshiba. At that point I was bargaining like the arabian nights, so I countered with I would like my money back since I'm within 14 days thank you. The money-back guy is out today but we'll note that I called within enough time, so I won't have to do this debate again (yeah, right).

Meanwhille, behind the scenes I'm taking a week to ship it to toshiba and see if they can't give it a go. I thought I got one more tidbit of info about the wi-fi: in the Connections tab the third setting switches between the other two. (The bad design involved boggles the mind.) Unfortunately no setting works (unlike my friend's box) so this is still enough impetus to return it.

Again, I don't really want to return it. I want it to work. If toshiba fails to make it work I will make my return with the shop.
