Why oh why have I not purchased the Symbian cell phone of my development dreams yet? Because I have to order online without seeing the thing first. And because my choices are well on the bleeding edge: not released yet in my area, shallow user base, that sort of thing. I'm having to rethink the nuts and bolts of my project based on this info. I don't want to develop for cell phones just for yuks, I was hoping it would make my service applicable for more people by being on more devices. So picking a super high end device is not the vox populii I was after. It would be a better choice to eliminate the color screen from the requirements (MMS) and instead dumb down the project to SMS. SMS is the best match as far as phones go, but it has no intersection with PDA level devices. Back to the nuts and bolts: what is this project trying to accomplish, and what is the sharpest tool to do the job? In the beginning of the project it's easy to hypothesize because there's no research completed and therefore no gotchas.
