My son is definitely showing some indications of engineering acumen. He does very well with math and doesn't like reading so much (of course we hope to change the latter). He also has demonstrated that, unlike me, he probably has a sense of direction. Now he is demonstrating some good powers of observation and analysis regarding the physical world. He looked at my new cordless Logitech mouse (picture below), and immediately asked where the buttons were. The reason this was such a good question is that this mouse has a very unusual design element, in that the topic plastic covering is single piece, and achieves the left and right button motion because it is flexible and springy. In other words, it is missing the usual physical lines which divide the left and right buttons from the rest of the top cover. See pictures below.
