This quote says it all about this under-predicted and annoyingly extended storm: "The heaviest snow of this prolonged snow event is liley Monday morning." I guess I should be grateful--had this started on a weekday, it would have fouled up four rush hours. Oh I do wish I were in a position to work from home tomorrow.

The cameras seemed to cut away from the objectionable halftime acts somewhat prematurely (not all that soon, at least in the case of the former)...I'm guessing there will be a minor publicity dust-up about this, followed by some extremely insincere hand-wringing on the part of the NFL and networks...as they smile up their sleeves, reveling in the old maxim that there is no such thing as bad publicity, and just think of the extra people who will tune in next year, out of fascination with abomination.

The Super Bowl is not a big event in the Neu family, but we had it on in the background, and Beth wanted to watch the halftime show, and the kids joined her. What a downer that was. I watched the first three minutes, and was utterly revolted. The first act included a thick-muscled rapper who repeatedly groped himself (I have a vague notion that this gesture may be considered normative in that musical genre?). Appalling. There are no two ways about it--the people behind these tawdry displays are vermin.

The follow up act (Kid Rock) was less vulgar, but lousy enough.

Yuck, now a report on the Jacksons misbehaving. I guess it runs in the family.
