Apple Computer Inc. is planning something big. The company has sent out invitations to representatives of the media (except me) for a big announcement that will be "music to your ears" lead some commentators to suspect the company will announce a commercial music downloading service. More news when I get it.

The BBC reports how a researcher at the Media Lab Europe has created a fake potted plant that "blooms" whenever his girlfriend is on line. Apparently it puts the human element back into electronic communication. Personally, I find it rather scary that this guy is monitoring when she's online. [BBC News | Technology | UK Edition]
