When Vonage goes portable

Om Malik reports on his recent conversation at Vonage's HQ. Could it be? International calling for $15/month from your PDA (Pocket PC)? Most interesting, as some would say.

New Patient Monitoring System Wirelessly Sends Medical Information with BlackBerry 6510 from Nextel; Application Wins Enterprise Java Developer Contest

Medicare Bill's impact on ePrescribing: (the AMA, luddites and dinosaurs)

Recent passage of the Medicare Reform bill avoided stipulating ePrescribing, making it acceptance voluntary. This might have been a nod to rural practices for which this might not be cost-efficient.

This link is to a post on Matthew Holt's The Health Care Blog:

I do think that its overly optimistic to think that this kind of voluntary effort can get more than a few cities or states well on the way to ePrescribing. However, we should have some good answers within 18 months as to whether these efforts really save money. If they do, pressure will increase on other providers to adopt ePrescribing too.

He links to Jane Sarasohn Kahn's column in iHealthbeat about the impact of the Medicare bill on ePrescribing. (registration required)
