An Introduction to RSS Feeds

This item on Dave Winer's site provides a link to a article (PDF - as a rule, I usually don't like to link directly to a PDF), in which Dave gives a good overview of RSS in the tautologically-named News Library News. Dave is quoted as describing RSS Feeds as "automated Web surfing." I'd say that it begins to mark the obsolescence of HTML in favor of XML.

PalmSource Introduces Palm OS Cobalt and Garnet

I had heard during the Mission Possible Treo 600 release party that the plan would be to use an enhanced version of OS 5 (Garnet) for the development of the smartphone product line, at least as far as the Treo is concerned. It seems OS 6 (Cobalt) is slated to support the creation of new categories of devices for the communications, enterprise, education and entertainment markets, according to this post by Palm Infocenter.

There has been talk about a new product, much from the Treo, from the Jeff Hawkins design team. I would guess that it would be something like the SONY PEG UX50, going back to palmtop, mini-PC concept supporting multiple wireless modes. I can envision this as being a perfect platform for the capabilities provided by Cobalt.

You can view some screenshots of Garnet and Cobalt.
