If things go the US Army's way, the battle for Baghdad will not consist of intense house-to-house fighting, but rather a concentration of force on key command posts and government sources of power.  Initially, US forces will reconnoiter the city to determine exactly where those centers of power are located.  Targeted airstrikes from air force planes and army helicopters will follow.  Finally, carefully planned penetrations by combined groups of armored formations, dismounted infantry, combat engineers, and perhaps even special forces to take specific targets.  Battle Plan For Baghdad.
