As mentioned earlier, the Allies are advancing towards Baghdad from the south along two axes. The 3rd Infantry Division is armor heavy, while the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force is a ligher mechanized infantry force. Additionally, Special Forces and possibly Airborne units may be approaching from the West. Finally, Predators and Delta Force are trying to determine the locations of US POW's. Troop Movements

Now that the initial confusion is over, it appears that the US Third Infantry Division captured a bridge outside of Nasiriya on Saturday, but the two bridges the US Marines fought for on Sunday were actually inside the town. Destination Baghdad

There has been a lot of confusion reporting the exact nature of the approach to Baghdad through the Iraqi south. But it now appears that the Allied approach to the Iraqi capital is taking shape as a two-pronged attack with the US 3rd Infantry Division coming from the west of the Euphrates and the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force coming from the east.
