Can you get pregnant from anal sex? My boyfriend says no, but there’s nobody I can ask, because they’ll know that I’m thinking about doing it. Please help! Nancy
Dear Nancy,
There is no biological way for you to get pregnant from anal sex, unless there is sperm left in the anus which, upon discharge, make their way into the opening of the vagina. The anus is connected with the intestines, part of the GI tract. The reproductive tract is completely separate from the GI tract. I recommend that if you’re going to practice anal sex, that you make your boyfriend wear a condom. While you cannot get pregnant from anal sex, you can certainly contract a STD (sexually transmitted disease) from anal sex, particularly if you are new to it. Anal sex places a strain on the muscles of the anus, and can cause very small tears inside which facilitate the transmission of disease. Remember, better safe than sorry when it comes to any form of unprotected sex, Nancy.
