Sloans go to a cat show
It has been years since I have been to a cat show. (Candy, my
first wife, and I used to raise, breed and sell Himalayan cats, as well
as Sheltie dogs.) Sue and I love cats and for a long time we have
wanted more cats. Tupper is a sweetie, but she is not a lap cat!
After reading Peter Gether's book, The Cat Who Went to Paris, Susie has wanted a Scottish Fold. Since before that I thought I wanted an apple headed Siamese, that is until I went to this cat show. I think I have changed my mind. I think I want a Burmese. I remember in 1965, at the ripe old age of nine, going to my "Uncle" Ollie's farm in Kansas. Uncle Ollie had a barn full of Burmese cats! I was in cat heaven.
According to what I have been reading on the Internet, Burmese cats
actually started in Thailand (Siam) and are related to Siamese and
Tonkinese cats. They have the rounded heads of the Apple headed
Siamese and sweet dispositions. In short they are lap cats!
I think it would be really cool to have a sweet Burmese. It would be a
dear a friend and a dear reminder of a great memory of my childhood.
We may get two more cats. We are also seriously considering converting
Tupper into an indoor cat. She may not like it, but I think it would
help her live longer.
