Another nutsy weekend
Friday
This has been a nutsy weekend. It started off on Friday with drama at
work.
Saturday
Saturday morning Kenneth was sick. I think it was a reaction to the medication he has been taking.
Then Fran, Sue's mother, called. She had put a bid on a mobile home and it was accepted! She will be moving in in early February. So, Fran will be a Californian soon! She will live in San Jose near Bascom and Hamilton.
After we found this out we took Tupper to the Vet. She has had some
wounds I thought were bite marks. It turns out, according to the vet,
it is cat acne. I am relieved she is not getting bit! We asked the
vet about getting Tupper a kitty friend. She said she didn't think
that was a good idea. She also didn't think that keeping Tupper inside
was as important a thing for us to do as I thought she would. That was
disappointing all around. (Stay tuned folks)
After the vet we went home and Ken was doing better. Tupper hates car
trips so she was very happy to be home. We then went to see Fran's new
home. We stopped at the bike shop and met Tyler there. Then we went
out for coffee. I was very grumpy about what the vet said.
After returning home Sue and I put all the Christmas decorations back
in the attic for another year. Ken was slowly feeling better. While
in the garage we discovered a puddle, a big puddle, a puddle that had
been there a long time! Our water heater was leaking, and had been for
a long time.
So we got out the yellow pages and Sue started calling water heater
repair companies. We found the price varied from $600 to $1200 for
somebody to come out and replace the water heater. I went to the gym.
After I came back a fellow named Mark came out. He was about as
deadpan as they come. He reminded me of Dan Akroid in "Ghostbusters."
He tried to install an insulated water heater, but with the insulation
it was too big for our space. He had to remove it and install another
unit. I spent the evening hanging out with Mark in the freezing garage.
He was here until 11 p.m. putting in the water heater. That was our Saturday!
Sunday
Sunday morning's showers were nice and warm confirming that the hot
water heater was working. We took the morning a little slow. Then we
went to Vacaville. At Vacaville we went to the home of Lois True, the
owner of Nightsong Cattery. Lois breeds and sells Burmese cats. We
fell in love with her cats! More on this later, We watched the
Patriots beat the Colts in the snow in the comfort of her living room
covered with cats! After that we came home and I went out and picked
up some handlebars for Jeff's new bike. This was the first trip out of
town in our new car. (Stay Tuned Folks)
That night we saw Chinatown, a great movie!
Monday
Monday was a holiday, Martin Luther King Day. Susie had to work and I
felt lazy, lounging around until noon. Tupper actually sat on my lap.
This is amazing for her. Then I went and did some errands, shopping
and returning. I made a nice dinner and then the real excitement
began, I developed my first roll of film at home in San Jose. I want
to build a dark room at home and this really got me excited to do this!
