Blog-verse
Virtual reality: I've written before--that sometimes my blog life seems more real than real life, a consequence I suspect of not being warehoused in an office with the normal distractions of colleagues and conversations about lives and whether Melana will pick the Hunk or Average Joe (Millionaire, it turns out. Don't you'all wonder about a show featuring a hottie guy asked to choose between 10 average looking women? Betcha $10 it will never happen.)
But the blog thing is remarkable, don't you think? Wendy, Yentala and Teresa so far have collected more than $3,600 for Heifer International to purchase Knitting Baskets (a basket is composed of two llamas and two sheep) to benefit impoverished families around the world. Knit-a-longs proliferate (muffs, anyone?); Amy has compiled a great list in her Interweave Knits WebWatch column of Oct. 17 and I find myself tempted by the legwarmer thing--oh for the Eighties where we pranced about the gym in thong leotards and legwarmers.
Then there's the writing support--the Artist Way writer-knitters, the National Novel Writing Month writer-knitters and the whiney writer-knitters (me) and, of course, the life cycle support as people struggle with sickness, deaths and breakups or share the happiness of a new birth or wedding. Community comes in all shapes and sizes, doesn't it? I look forward to getting to know me blog pals better and better!
