In the June issue of the .NET Developer's Journal, Dan Fox and I wrote an article titled Have PDA, Will Travel. This is a look at the issues of using the SqlClient namespace in the .NETCF.  This application scenario is for those who work in full-time connected environments and are betting that the connection and the database server are working at all times.  In some cases, this is a required environment due to the size of the data not fitting on the device, OR when data has to pushed back to the server like in real-time environments.

.NET CF SP1 contains a handful of fixes.  Stay tuned to my favorite CF site, Smart Devices Community Site, as SP1 is expected to be released this month.

INETA Launches New Website
The International .NET Association unveiled a new web site, designed to offer enhanced services to .NET user group leaders and members throughout the world. This new site dramatically improves the usability of the organization’s site, streamlining design elements to make navigation simpler, and enabling user group leaders to access important resources more quickly than ever before.

To me, it is much more visually appealing.

INETA Speakers Bureau
One of the best things that has happened for me this year is being added to the Speakers Bureau. The folks on this list include some of the smartest .NET guru's in the world.  I consider this membership a honor.

If you are involved in a User Group, make sure that your leadership is tuned into INETA.  One of biggest challenges in running a group is having quality speakers with solid presentations, and INETA is a real solution to this ongoing dilemma.  These folks work long and hard to provide .NET to the community.

Memphis .NET User Group
So how do I know about the challenges of running a User Group?  Well, I am part of the Memphis .NET User Group.  I and Steve Henke of Quilogy are the group leaders.  If you are ever in Memphis on a 3rd Tuesday of the month, then check out my home town's .NET group.  We also have newsgroups and technology polls on the web site.  I present about once a quarter.  In August, Dave Wanta will be presenting.
