Last night, I went out with Brad McCabe (Director of Development at Infragistics) to the Bay.NET User Group, one of the top groups in the country.  Where were you Juval?

Brad presented on Tablet PC development and did some very cool demos.  The tablet thing is just plain cool.  Brad showed how to use some of the .NET support for ink (the Microsoft.Ink namespace).  And then he topped it with a showing of Infragistic's new controls that are ink-aware. Impressive!

After his presentation, Dan Appleman was speaking on "Buy vs. Build".  You know Dan Appleman?  Co-founder of APress and President of Desaware.  Dan is very smart and got me my first baby steps in the book business.  Plus, he's a very smart guy.

Afterwards the presentation, we drove back to the Santa Clara Westin where we have been staying all week. We had an Apple Tartlet (a flat little peice of appple pie, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream) and utilized the Wi-Fi connection in the bar.  It was a nice time of relaxation and talking about what each other does for our respective employers.  I got a one-on-one demo of the Infragistics controls and nice look into Brad's business.  So, whenever someone asks me about a recommendation for controls, without hesitation I will recommend Infragistics.  From talking to Brad, I can tell that this company cares about thier customers, thier employees, and the quality of their work.  They have some very talented people, including Brad.

One thing that I didn't realize is the level of support and samples that Infragistics provides.  There is already some great content at the DevCenter site but Brad says there is some great stuff coming.  I can't wait to see it!  It's no wonder these guys lead the component market.  Sorry, I'm changing my usage of "component" to "toolset".  So, Infragistics is the leading toolset vendor.

Brad: Hats off to you, buddy! You guys rock.

We also modified my definition of a ".NET Somebody".  We have added a new possible qualification: possesses a Tablet PC.

Today, I had a 6AM flight to come home.  What a week!
