Dan Fox, Quilogy's Director of Technology, gives a quick comparison between Atomic's DAL (a Data Access Layer that we use in our Atomic .NET course) versus the Microsoft Data Access Application Block. Have you considered the following topics in your data layer: less code, performance, caching of objects, provider independence, schema independance? When Dan developed this, Microsoft thought enough of this to have him speak on it at TechEd.
Also, Dan gives an interesting perspective on the Game 5 Win by the Cubs. Dan shows why some statistical thought should be applied to the game of baseball. If you don't know, Dan and I are true fans. In this picture below, Dan is on the left and I'm on the right. On this night, we were pulling for the Rockies. But our teams of preference are in the NL Central. At this point, Dan would say "Go Cubs" and I would say "Go Cards". But due to the current set of teams left, I say GO CUBS!
