Rene Descartes. "If you would be a real seeker after truth, it is necessary that at least once in your life you doubt, as far as possible, all things."
This weekend I was flipping stations and heard some station promo saying, "If you don't believe in God, nothing else matters." What the hell? You don't have to believe in God for today to matter. You have to care about today, tomorrow and it's darn nice if you care about what happens after your gone and making an impact on the world. Laws aren't because of religion, but to help us live here and be okay with each other ('cause people ARE weird). You could rewrite the commandments to make sense without having a God.
1. Don't worship dumb stuff.
2. Use clean words so as not to offend and teach bad thoughts.
3. Don't gossip.
4. Rest every once in a while or you'll wear your body out.
5. Your mom and dad brought you into this world and they can take you out. Okay, I don't believe that...nor do I believe that people having sex means they should be honored. But someone that does care for you and take care of you and teach you to be a good person deserves to be respected.
6. Don't kill people. Hopefully no one will kill you.
7. Don't be stuck in the moment and break someone's heart.
8. If you want something, buy it. That's how the economy works.
9. Don't gossip. At least about stuff that's not true. Did I already say that one?
10. Be happy with what you got.
Dude, the commandments are just about being happy...they don't have anything to do with god.
