Yesterday was Jinni's next-to-last pre-surgery chemo session. Cytoxin is the current drug that is coursing through her loveliness. Eight down, one to go.
She still tolerates the stuff very well, but starting today she will be pretty mopey as the drug attacks what it is supposed to attack. By Tuesday she will be back to normal, or at least she will be back to what currently passes as normal. We don't expect true normalcy for quite a while longer.
Her blood test yesterday indicated her white cell count is quite high (in the 9 range for you medical types). The bi-weekly $5,300.00 injections of Neulasta that are aimed at bolstering her immune system are proving their worth on that front.
Our support system of friends and neighbors continues to astound. Coordinated by Rachael Roccamora who lives three doors down, the four-day food schedule began again last night. As you might expect, not only have the Hoggards been eating well throughout this whole process, our inventory of serving dishes has expanded exponentially. There's some pretty nice stuff piling up on the dining room table awaiting their rightful and generous owners.
We continue to hear from additional far-flung and close-in friends who want to step in and help, so before its all over we may very well have enough serving pieces to start a restaurant. Some old friends from Kentucky checked in this week and offered to foot the bill for a night of take-out of our choice (thanks David and Fleur). I'm leaning Outback, Jinni? curry laden Indian cuisine... the kids?... Chinese. So McDonalds it is.
Yesterday I added a Paypal feature to the blog (its over there ---->)to better facilitate the many offers of assistance we have received such as the one from Kentucky.
Thanks everyone, we love you, too.
