... at The Barbershop Blog...

"...I have, in the past, gone down to the Salvation Army on South Elm-Eugene with a voucher to receive food assistance and whenever I have gotten boxed food, they have had dead bugs inside. Disgusting... "

Then at her own place she takes up an issue that we, here in the Aycock Neighborhood, have been dealing with for many years.  Summit Executive Center....

"...That Is not a place for anybody to live, It's horrible. Shut this disaster down or clean It up."

Our Neighborhood Association has been in constant contact with the police regarding the "Executive Center".  From my understanding, the old motel-turned-flop-house is under heavy surveillance by the authorities who are building their case to have it declared a public nuisance.

It would be a great help if our newspaper of record could shine a little light on the subject.  After all, it is low income housing and perhaps laden with lead paint.

At the very least they should be required to take down the big sign in front of the place.  Isn't there some kind of law that requires truth in advertising?  I mean, come on, "Summit Executive Center"?

The Shu announces an updated and improved TriadBlogs weblog aggregator site.  But wait... there's more.

They have added the capability for anyone to go and start a blog of their own.. for free.  Just to see what it's all about, I went through the set-up process and was able to start a new blog in about fifteen minutes.  Click here to see it.

The software is full featured, easy to understand, has a choice of 28 different styles and... did I mention it's free?  The only limitation I noticed was the 10 meg cap on storage so if you want to upload a bunch of pictures and such, you might want to inquire how much additional space will cost.

Through fortuitous timing, perhaps by design, this service is launched just in time make it available to those who will be attending the "Bogging Literacy Teach-In" for local public officials and potential candidates for public office this coming Saturday.  If you are a political type, this is you chance to get in on the action.  Registration is required, do so by clicking here.
