David Hoggard's take on local politics and life in general from Greensboro, NC

We are headed to the beach today and leaving the Rottweilers, the Pekingnese and our two attack cats to guard the estate.  (I'm not kidding about the Rotties, would-be robbers... try your luck.)  A friend of ours has a beach house down at Emerald Isle that could easily house a battalion.  With the help of family and friends, we are going to fill it up for a week.

This weekend, some neighbors and friends are coming down but most will head home on Monday.  The next influx will occur on Wednesday when my baby sister and her beautiful 'second-litter' daughter Ellie will be flying down from Danville, KY.  I am really looking forward to spending time with them.  It would be great to have the entire compliment of the Judy's family make the trek, but Josh and Lindsay are all grown up and have other places to be.  Her husband Marty has other plans as well.

The next day, brother Keith has threatened to make an appearance with wife Chris and daughter Kellie all the way from Louisville.  I hope they make it . If they they do, they will stay through the weekend and perhaps come back with us to Greensboro for a spell since their Spring break goes into the next week.  Keith's eldest son, Zack, is headed to Florida for his break and won't be joining us.

I'm taking this laptop of mine but don't expect much output from the Hogg over the next week.  I have some serious sandcastle building to undertake and our world-famous creations take a lot of time and concentration.  I'll send pictures.

As of yesterday, the N&R tells me they have scheduled the next installment of Jinni's Journal for publication this coming Monday.  I'm sure I'll have a comment or two then, but otherwise... for the most part... I'm going to give my fingers a rest.

This time of year is very difficult for me.  Even though I was transplanted many years ago, my roots are still firmly established .
