Why start a weblog?  To keep up with City Council member bloggers Phillips and Carmany.  Agree with them, or don't... but now you know where they stand on these community issues.

The Truth and Reconciliation Project:

Councilwoman Carmany:  "...Despite the admirable credentials of the persons selected to serve on this commission, my underlying concern is that I feel that any "facts" presented to them will be woefully inaccurate..." read the whole thing

Councilman Phillips:  ...What did become clear to me was what Nelson Johnson wants. He wants the City Government of Greensboro to accept responsibility for what happened in 1979. read it all

The new baseball stadium:

Councilwoman Carmany, (after a glowing first impression of First Horizon Park, she demonstrates that she was not elected to simply be a community cheerleader). "... I am interested in knowing if the steps taken to eliminate noise and light intrusion into nearby neighborhoods are effective. Yeah, I know about the upcoming fundraiser for my family.  The initial group of organizers obtained our blessings before proceeding.  I've just been a bit too humbled to say anything about it .

All I can offer is a big thank you to everyone who has had, or will have, anything to do with organizing, planning, or attending what will surely be a very wonderful event.  Well... there is one more thing I can say... we promise to do the same for you if you ever need it. 

The one stipulation we have placed upon what may soon be known as HoggFest is this: The effort should become recognized as an annual affair.  Each subsequent year should be of benefit to some cause that is deemed important by those involved.  As you might expect, Jinni is insisting that next year's event be a fundraiser for a cause such as Greensboro's own Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Test.
