Todos queremos Amor Real
Driving in to New York through the Bronx last Saturday, we couldn't miss this huge billboard above the highway for the anxiously awaited telenovela, Amor Real (sinopsis in English here). I am sadly missing my Spanish practice, a regular part of which was watching a nightly telenovela. But CA called me this afternoon to tell me she heard that Amor Real is starting in on Univision on October 25th, running a las nueve - at 9pm. This should be a good time. The 7:00 telenovelas I watched were good because I'd have dinner and watch the show then get on with my evening. The last one I watched was at 8pm, which landed right in the middle of my evening and I ended up futzing around the rest of the night before going to bed. Nine o'clock should work well. Entonces, 25 de octubre...

The latest Aquarium Age report:
...it matters not whether you are actively engaged in loving or simply meditating on love's meaning—love in all its infinite varieties, including its opposite, indifference (the anti-love), is in the
air . For some, this atmosphere compels passionate action. For others, it's lingering remembrances of springs past. For still more, the week is an exploration into the value of relationship and how important it is to belong, first to one's self, and then, to another, even if that other is work, creativity, or service to the greater good.Partnerships fueled by love or longing illuminate facets of the heart that aren't easily recognized in a vacuum. Lovers, friends, co-workers, business partners—all those people we care about or share our days with—stimulate reactions and responses we aren't able to experience when we are alone, just as we catalyze dormant characteristics in others. But that process is unstable, which is why one of the challenges of any relationship is recognizing that even when we find a reflection that's satisfying and vital, that moment can't be frozen into an eternal forever. Relating is a dynamic process, not a static state....
Whatever your experience of these currents may be, try to keep in mind that relationships—even the difficult ones—are what glue the world together, heart-to-heart, spirit-to-spirit.

I like this ancestor project photo, especially since I was digging around some old photos when I wrote my recent poem about my grandmother. But this photo on the same site cracked me up. I don't know why. Maybe because the thumbnail looked like a photo of a gondola.

I am wasting my life. Have got to do something about this. This thought occurred to me once again today after reading up on retirement communities and assisted living facilities that my parents may need to consider. And after reading Cassandra's story of her lovely, aging father-in-law:
"He settled back into his chair and sighed. "I get up every day full of ideas and things I want to accomplish, and at the end of the day I haven't done a single one of them. This is what old age is!"
What I'm listening to: Gyroscope
If you like world music or eclectic international music, you might like this program I just found online at the Emerson College Radio Station in Boston. My tango- and salsa-loving friend Maddy turned me on to it since she likes to put it on in the afternoons at the salon where she works. The "Gyroscope" program runs from 2-5pm Eastern time. There are probably other good stations with similar online programming but I haven't found any. Anyone out there listen to Web radio and have any favorites, whatever the musical style?
