OMAC is planning for its first annual Technical Symposium to be held November 28-29, 2007. It will be hosted by the Boeing Co. in Everett, Wash. at the Boeing Visitor Center and Hilton Garden Inn. All OMAC Working Groups will come together to work on collaboration between process and discrete industries.
The preliminary agenda calls for best practice presentations, a tour of the 787 Dreamliner assembly operation and working group breakout sessions. Member organizations of the Automation Federation will participate. Those organizations are ISA, WBF, OMAC and WINA (Wireless Industrial Networking Association).
Hmm, they picked a week I'm not traveling...yet. I bet it will be interesting. If you are an automation user and are wishing for ways to make your automation systems interoperate at a higher level--or at all--then sign up to attend and add your input. I'm sure you'll be welcomed. We need more input at these meetings.

I have an update from guest blogger Wes Iversen from the Turck press conference last week. Can't believe I didn't get a comment from them. When the CEO talked about sales growth in the process business, he actually said he expects it to double ever two years (not five as was reported).
