I've been asked if I'm getting an iPhone. No, I'm not...at least not yet. First, I live in the middle of nowhere--so no Apple store to line up outside. Second, I just got away from AT&T, why would I go back? I've used a Palm since 1996 and gradually began using it much like a Tablet PC by 1998. I now have a Treo so that I could get rid of one device (Palm plus phone). But I'm growing disenchanted with the Palm product. In its rush to compete with Blackberry, it has evidently devalued some of the things I liked. For example, the handwriting recognition is not as fast and sharp in the Treo as in my older models. So, I've gone back to paper for notes.
The iPhone would combine another two of my devices--smart phone and iPod. But the reviews I've seen reveal significant limitations in the iPod part of the product. So, when the iPhone comes to Verizon, and it's 3G enabled, and the iPod part is upgraded, then I'll take a serious look. By the way, from what I read be careful of the glowing reviews in the computer magazines and related blogs. Apple PR plays hardball. Write a bad review and you don't get first in line goodies any more. It's probably best to read tech bloggers who aren't beholden to Apple.
