I recorded an interview with Dave Bauman, technical director of OMAC, this morning and published it as Automation Minutes Episode 40. He talks about OMAC's presence at Pack Expo and the interest that was generated there. He also explains the thought behind the organization's first annual Symposium. The Nov. 28-29 gathering in Everett, Wash. will include a tour of Boeing's 787 "Dreamliner" assembly plant and opportunities for attendees to contribute to the standards discussion going on in the industry. The Symposium organizers hope to get a lot of cross-pollination of ideas on standards from both the process and discrete manufacturing areas.

In another automation-related personnel move, Brian Singer, formerly of Rockwell Automation and active with the ISA SP99 committee on security, has joined Wurldtech Security Technologies as vice president of professional services. This move will bolster Wurldtech as the industrial cyber-security industry continues to show signs of growth and competitiveness.

Big news. Sudipta Bhattacharya, who just joined Wonderware from SAP, has been announced as the new president of Wonderware replacing Mike Bradley. He will report directly to Ulf Henriksson, CEO of Invensys. There was no mention of where Bradley is going or why they are making the move.
