I've been pretty vocal about the shortcomings of my PowerBook (Apple Mac). It's mostly hardware -- which I consider to be pretty bad given the state of the art. Now, I gotta say that my iPod mini has given me great service, and I'm really happy with my first week of using the iPod Touch. But the Mac is another thing. Then I started reading about big problems with Leopard, the latest OS X rev. First off, it won't work on my machine (it's too old and slow), so I avoided the major problems of others. But apparently I lucked out, because I updated my Tiger OS last week with no problems. Not so others.

Here are two of Silicon Valley's most followed bloggers and their Mac problems. Robert Scoble's is so bad that he went back to a Windows machine. Dave Winer is upset that Apple's promise of "it just works" isn't really true. I don't feel so alone.

Here's an interesting podcast from IT Conversations about the state of robotics by Rodney Brooks (iRobot). Then here is a post from Slashdot on some robotic experiments. Got me pondering the development of industrial robotics in the near future. Any place for Roomba or PackBot ideas for manufacturing (other than as cute lawn mowers)? I've asked Jim Pinto (who still loves his Roomba) to think about this. Maybe there is more coverage coming?
