I never got an iPhone because it's on the AT&T network. Here's the story of a journalist I admire--Om Malik--who just "broke up" with the iPhone. I'm about to have my own break up with Palm. I've had one since 1996. Used it for a lot of things. But the move to smartphone has been less than good, and I have grown dissatisfied with my Treo. Staying with Verizon, I'm going to sucker in for a Blackberry Storm. I've gone with paper for my note taking--used to do that on my Palm, too. So, I'm going with iPod Touch for music, video, podcasting and some surfing; Blackberry Storm for phone, email, GPS and some surfing and twittering; notebook for jotting ideas, notes and the like.

By the way, happy Lincoln's birthday. He was a man who became great by the way he grew in office and dealt with crises. In such a way do we become great in our own way by using the same pattern. Personal growth through listening and adaptability plus firm values that give courage during adversity. We have some adversity this year facing a down economy. Some of us have been through this before. It's never easy, but focusing on our values, learning new things and working for the future will see us through. Don't listen to the pessimists. Work toward a better tomorrow.

It appears that Sirius/XM radio is going down for the count. It was just another way of delivering radio--a subscription model rather than free with ads model. What killed it? Probably debt played a role. But another thing is mp3 players--especially the rise of iPod/iTunes. We are all our own DJs now. This same discussion arises in the media business (newspapers/magazines). Is putting the print magazine online as an exact duplicate like the satellite radio model? Or should we use the Internet in a new way? What would be the business model for that? Paid content (aka subscription model a la Wall Street Journal)? Or free with ads (everyone else)?
What do you think? There are many readers of this blog. Some are in marketing. Some doers. I'm interested in all your ideas. Comment or send an email. Thanks.
