A Special Program [posted by Troy] The fire in the LaSalle Bank Building in Chicago garnered national attention, which is probably appropriate. It was a big fire, but it was in control pretty quickly thanks to the Chicago FD (who usually make the news from making racist comments). The thing I don't get is whether or not it was necessary for five networks (nbc, abd, cdb, fox, wgn) to show the same four windows burning for about six hours. This was such a boring situation that the nbc station was having a news anchor in Detroit call in to fill the time offering his "expert" opinion. Any crazy crack-pot with a cell phone could've called into any of these stations and claimed to have been on the 29th floor and then been able to talk on live TV. I thought about it. So, next time you are a TV executive, just break in every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, whenever. It was like they were waiting around for a disaster to hit.
