Never thought I'd be typing that [posted by Troy] If any of you are in the QCA and have back troubles, perhaps a visit to Dr. Nick would help? Dr. Nick Caras is one of the most trusted names in healthcare to come out of Cambridge Public Schools within the last several decades. (Nothing against the other great healers who are working their wonders out and around our world.)

A Theological Debate from the Evangelicals [posted by Troy] I stumbled across an article about Open Theism in The Chronicle of Higher Education today. It seems that several right wing religious organizations are debating whether or not God knows everything or just a lot of stuff. Is God all knowing or does God recognize the chaos of existance and change his/her mind? There are a list of bible verses that suggest that God cannot predict the free will of human beings. For instance, here is one of my favorite.

Exodus 32:14: “the Lord changed his mind about the disaster that he planned to bring on his people” (vs. 14). (Here are more verses.)

Now, most mainstream Christian denominations have been debating this for centuries and have come to some level of agreement on this issue (or have agreed to disagree). What is unique is that now the far right-wing, evangelicals are actually reading their Bible and thinking about what it says. This is something new. Anyway, if you are insterested in both sides of the debate, here are several samples:

Yes, yes, of course we're still torturing. Duh! [posted by Troy] The Red Cross is reporting that the US is toruring people at Guatanamo. Haven't we known this for about two years? I mean, we lock up people without charges, without outside contact, and put them in little rooms, ignoring all rights, come on! What else would we be doing? Anyway, read the article above.

The ignored USA Nobel Peace Prize [posted by Troy] When Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize a couple years ago, his picture was all over the place. Sure, he is a former President, so he gets media coverage, but Jody Williams was hardly even mentioned in 1997 when she won the peace prize. She is one of the few US citizens to get the prize. You can read her speech here. Anyway, the US still puts out more landmines than anyone else and there is new push to wake up our country:
