A New View of the Race [posted by Troy]
Talk about a unique way to watch a sporting event. The Tour de France Live Tracker follows the race live, but wait, there's more! It lets you see the heart rate of riders so you can gauge how much energy they are putting out. So, it combines Google Maps with the Tour Route with GPS data with mobile heart monitors. The average human has a resting heart rate of about 75 beats per minute. The lowest resting rate for a Tour rider is 32 bpm. These guys top out at about 180 bpm when they hit their max effort.
