Hysterical Parents
It's been a very busy week with our billet, so I've had no time to post until now. We just arrived back home from an overnight camping trip in Kluane National Park. It was pretty hilarious, I must say.

Some of the group went up Friday night, and others of us joined them on Saturday. On Friday night it began to rain, so all the kids took their tents to this central cooking area because there was a shelter. No one thought anything about it. When I arrived on Saturday with the four I was bringing along, Iris asked if they too could set up their tent in the shelter area. I said no problem.

Everything was going along just fine with kids and parents, and it was getting late, so some of us went to bed. Just as I was dozing off, two moms came to tell me that Iris was smooching with one of the French visitors. This got everyone to thinking....once we all went to bed, we would be sanctioning a co-ed unsupervised sleep-over. This made some parents extremely nervous, and they kept sending meaningful glances my way, I guess because it was Iris who had 'crossed into dangerous territory.'

I hauled myself out of my tent and had my obligatory talk with Iris about using coming sense and making sure she slept in the tent she was supposed with the three girls she was supposed to. She of course rolled her eyes as I knew she would. Anyway, I went off to bed with fingers and toes crossed that she wouldn't do anything too stupid.

This morning, as I was having tea with another parent, one of the moms came to us in a panic saying her daughter wasn't in her tent and did we know where she was. This brought four parents running, and all of us checked our kids' tents for the lost girl, and to ensure our our charges were tucked into the sleeping bags they were supposed to be. We did find Emily, sleeping in another girl's tent, and all was well once again.

Anyone watching this whole thing would have been howling with laughter at us adults. What antics. Now we're off to a barbeque for the whole group at the Hot Springs. I wonder what drama us grown ups will create there?
