Hola! Buenas tardes. If I were writing this in half an hour's time, I would say buenas noches. And if I were writing this before noon, I would say buenos dias. Joe and I took our first Spanish lessons last night, in a feeble attempt to learn a bit of the language before our holiday this summer. The teacher is from Costa Rica and isn't really a very good instructor, but I'm sure we will pick up some basics if nothing else.
Joe has booked one night's accomodation for us in La Alhambra in Granada. I posted a photo of the place a couple of years back on this blog. Here's another version:

I want to spend some time just sitting outside one of the gates leading into Granada called La Puerta del Vino. Debussy composed a piece of music about the comings and goings outside this very gate. I performed it for my ARCT piano exam and have never tired of it. Here's a photo of the gate. Can't you just picture us sitting near by with a picnic lunch and bottle of cheap wine? How can this not move one to do some flamengo dancing right there on the spot?
