Available Light Film Festival The local film festival starts tonight, and I have won two unlimited passes. Yeah! It's an interesting line up and there are a few films in particular that I have been anxiously waiting to see. On the top of my list is Water, directed by the same woman who created Bollywood/Hollywood. This movie is the third in her elements trilogy and starts when an eight year old girl is widowed and is sent to a home where Hindu widows must live in penitence.
Then there's Whole New Thing, a Canadian film about a home-schooled young teen who is sent to the local school for the first time and has his first crush - on his English teacher.
Cache is a dark thriller about a bourgeois Europen family that becomes usettled when someone starts mailing them tapes of their comings and goings, along with strange violent drawings.
Workingman's Death is a German film that portrays five stories of manual labour in the 21st Century.
Lots more. It'll be interesting how I manage to fit these in what with dance classes, Spanish lessons, etc. but I'll take in as many as possible.
