Menaka Thakkar

Last night Joe and I went to see a performance by the Menaka Thakkar Dance Company, a Toronto group. They were wonderful - such intricate movements and so graceful.
Today has been a lazy day for me. I did have a jazz dance rehearsal, and did a bit of grocery shopping, but other than that I've spent much of the day reading. My friend Ted sent me a book called 'the curious incident of the dog in the night-time' by Mark Haddon. You may have heard of it....it's written from the point of view of a 15 year old autistic boy named Christopher. When the neighbour's poodle is stabbed to death with a pitchfork, Christopher decides to solve the mystery of who did it. It's proving to be a wonderful read. Thank you Ted!
I must tear myself away from the book now to go gather some branches for our Easter tree. But it's been snowing all day and I don't fancy being out in the storm. This latest snowfall has once again made me yearn to hop on an airplane and get out of here - RIGHT NOW! For some reason, I've found this long winter especially tough to deal with this year. Ah well, I keep telling myself the snow can't last forever.
Tomorrow I've promised myself I will make hot cross buns, and some pies for Sunday's Easter dinner. Iris has requested pumpkin and lemon pies....not very seasonal, but pumpkin in particular tends to be a favourite with the kids at any time of the year.
