Emery weblogging from jail over one joint

Some myths about small-time marijuana possession -

  1. Users caught with only a tiny bit of pot don't go to jail
  2. Canadian laws are even more lax about this

Well, not up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The brilliantly subversive Canadian marijuana activist Marc Emery is now at the tail end of a 90-day sentence in a Saskatoon jail. Here's details on why he's there, but basically, it's because he passed one cannabis cigarette during a protest.

Marc has been blogging while incarcerated.

Understandably, Marc is not thrilled with Canada's national marijuana decrim proposal, since it includes many objectionable components, and he sees straight-out legalization as a more sensible option for Canada. I agree, but we're so far behind on the debate in the U.S., I think decrim is a necessary first step here.
