Some homeowners associations are voluntary. Others don't give you a choice — join or stay out. Whatever the conditions, most people will, at one time or another, likely participate in an association, either in a condo, gated community or a self-contained subdivision.

Q: I signed a contract a little more than two years ago to purchase a to-be-built condominium unit. I gave the developer a hefty down payment. My sales contract says that settlement must take place within two years. I inspect the building weekly, and it does not look like a lot of work has been done.

Will motorcyclists be able to use the golf cart lanes in Canyon Lake to allow them to get to and from the gates to their homes? That question will be answered next Monday, October 30, when a Special Meeting will be held to decide the controversial issue.
