Microsoft Mulls Sony Partnership To Counter iPod's Success
A picture named ipod-mosaic.gif

So much news coming out today - the rumor mill is in overdrive for MacWorld, Bill Gates experiences multiple crashes during his own keynote at CES, more Apple lawsuits - but my personal favorite of the day is over at the Wall Street Journal with the headline:

Microsoft Mulls Sony Partnership To Counter iPod's Success

Consider this for a moment, Microsoft - the company most known for not being able to innovate their way out of a wet paper bag, is considering partnering with Sony to combat the success of the iPod. With all due respect to Sony, who has created many amazing products - digital music is just not their thing (which makes no sense as they should absolutely own that category - with their history of the Walkman and their huge roots in the music business (think Sony Music). So if these two giants get in bed together, what kind of product could we imagine? Something really outdated and ugly with buggy software that only plays DRM infected songs in a format that nobody wants. (Hey, why bother - separately both companies have already created that on their own!)
