Revised AAA of England Commonwealth Games Selection Criteria - 2006

From the England Athletics website:

'We have been advised by the Commonwealth Games Council for England that owing to funding restrictions, the size of our team has been reduced. We will not therefore be taking a full team of three per event to Melbourne. The guideline performances remain unaltered, BUT PLEASE NOTE that there is no right to automatic selection unless the guideline performance has been met by the 10 July 2005.'

'1. ONLY THE FIRST English athlete past the post at the England Commonwealth Games Trials will be selected, having already reached the guideline performance by the 10 July 2005. 2. The number of places available for each discipline will be determined once the overall team size has been confirmed by the CGCE. Final selections will be made on Monday, 5 September 2005. 3. All athletes under consideration are expected to have competed in the England Commonwealth Games Trials in 2005.'

'(c) Race Walking: Selection will be the first one in each trial event, subject to achievement of the standard between 1 September 2004 and 25 September 2005. Any further positions will be selected on merit should more than 1 selection for an event be possible'

The trial for all three distances will be on 4th September at Earls Colne, Essex.
