Brian Cannell: ActiveWords and Conversant. Dev-centric article about how he uses ActiveWords to build things to maintain his websites.
Andrew Orlowski in the Register: "Google Heals." (Another slam against webloggers and people who love Google).
The thing Andrew gets wrong is that sometimes people get aches and pains and they don't wanna call 911 everytime. Maybe they have a co-pay on their health insurance. Maybe they don't wanna put costs onto society (calling an ambulance costs thousands of dollars and if your health insurance pays, that gets passed onto all of us in increased costs. If government pays, well, we all pay cause now that $1000 isn't available to increase the quality of our educational system).
I've used Google a number of times to get more information on health care. Andy, your anti-weblogger rants are fine, but in this case you're off base. I just wish the guy in my last item had done more research on depression and the available medicines.
Another reminder that we need to be vigilant about being there for each other. One of the guys I used to chat with, I learned over on Joi Ito's weblog, killed himself over the weekend. Dang. I sure wish he woulda talked with us about it.
If you're considering something like this, please ask for help. There's lots of ways to dig yourself out of a hole, and there are now medicines that are pretty effective against depression.
It's so sad. It's also one reason I write about my personal life. Weblogging is a safety valve.
