The situation has been cleared, but pretty weird.
Guy apparently was pissed about the widescreen TV he'd been sold, didn't like customer support and walked into the wrong building. Philips moved about 6 months ago. Oops.
According to reports he shot himself and is now in hospital.
Interesting comments and theories that suggest more.

Hostage Crisis in Amsterdam: An unidentified man armed with a machinegun and explosives entered the Rembrandt Tower in Amsterdam which houses about 56 companies. Philips, the electronics manufacturer used to have an office there as well, but recently moved to a location nearby.
In a statement issued to the dutch news organization NOS the captor claimed Philips' wide-screen television sets are "creative crap".
Clearly the man is disturbed, although I do agree about the tv sets...
Hopefully we'll get some first hand reports from local weblogs.
