Drivel: I read the RSD (Really Simple Discoverability) specification today on my way to Chicago. If I read the spec correctly, it simply provides the glue between an authoring/editing tool and the engine performing the publishing/rendering to the web. Now that we have RSD, all of the various blogging APIs, supporting engines, and the underlying protocols there is nothing stopping the creation of a very rich publishing and two-way communication experience on the web. What are the components of this ultimate web experience? 9:24:02 PM

Drivel: Dave's Live Web Log last night at Harvard was extremely inspiring. Now that I have had 24 hours to digest a lot of it, a few points are bubbling to the top.
- Blogging is synonymous with writing, rather than journaling. Like writing, blogging is a discipline that requires structure, practice, and patience. Journaling lacks the discipline and structure of writing.
- The most valuable blogs are topical in nature. Topical blogs require the most thought, organization, and general stimulate the most thought in their readers. Quips and short entries on the same topic are useful and required to illustrate points. Additionally, relating the topic and blog to people is important.
- Blogging is evolutionary rather than chronological. Blogs represent an evolution of thought on a topic or in the blogs author. Time is simply used to mark the progression of thought.
Does my blog fit this structure? Not yet, or, at least this one doesnít. I hate to be clique in blogging about blogging, but this exercise is helping me structure my blogging practices in preparation for professional blog and a personal blog (aka journal). 9:13:30 PM

Drivel: I realized today that I am spending way too much time in board rooms and not enough time in project rooms or server rooms. 8:49:16 PM
