Well, in these parts is seemed like the local fireworks (from neighbors risking a trip to the local ER, before they shut down due to that confluence of factors...) were much more, um, available this year than in years past.

Could be related to the general trend toward increased patriotism since 9/11. Then again, it could just be due to the really cheap prices I saw for the 'friendly' explosive devices this year.

Few things say "I'm patriotic" like a flag and some missing fingers, though...
