Well, I spent a chunk of the weekend over at J's Parents house; it was "clear out the basement" day. Mostly I had a simple Job, to search out dusty, dirty boxes, to vacuum cobwebs, and to get the boxes into the live portion of the basement for sorting.
Of course, I ran into some entertaining things, since her siblings ages span 50 years or so.
There was even requisite box of porn mags. (How I knew they belonged to J is another store...:))
What made it fun, of course, was the kids. Lillian had been over doing a sleep-over at her cousins', and they showed up just as I was clearing out the final batches of boxes.
So, since someone was in the "sub-basement" they came scooting in (luckily I had already vacuumed out all the cobwebs or it would have been necessary to take them all out back and hose them off. :))
Lillian's cousins found their father's old school NFL lunch-box, and a notebook with drawings in it.
Then the episode with the boxes of 45's and 78 records (and the player needed to play them)
Much fun ensued. :)

Why Are Windows Web Browsers So Much Better?
I can't tell you how much I hate saying this. But it's true. At least for me.
Web browsing on Windows is a better user experience that on OS X. And that's sad... ... [Eclecticity: Dan Shafer's Blog Universe]
He goes on to say that basically he finds web browsing on Windows™ smoother, although he still sticks with the Mac.
To a degree, I understand where he's coming from, for some reason the redraw and scrolling on a fast windows machine running and up-to-date version of, say Win2k does tend to scroll more smoothly, and redraw better than a comparable Mac OS-based browser.
Why am I willing to admit that? Because it's irrelevant. The reason I find browsing on the Mac OS to be a better experience overall, is because the OS in the Mac OS helps the browsing experience, whereas the Windows browsing experience is only better if you never have to interface with the rest of the system. in other words, the web browsers are better on Windows, but the overall browsing experience is better on a Mac.
And that, my friends, is what counts. I really think gull-wing doors are cool, but you won't ever see me buy a car just because it has gull-wing doors. :)
On a fast, solid modern Mac, I don't really see much of a difference, at least not enough to bemoan it as some kind of issue.
