So... Now that it's all true, some more thoughts; (Yeah, I know, I just can't shut up about it.)
Some folks writing in to MacInTouch have been wondering about Apple's own benchmarks that show the G5 basically spanking a Pentium 4.
So what happened? How is Apple now saying that Intel is the way to go?
Well, prefacing this with the fact that I don't know anything, I'll take a stab at that. First, Apple's benchmarks are for a single processor. If something with a dual 2.7Ghz is 117% faster than 1 3.6, then what is a Dual 3.6Ghz?
Secondly, remember that there's a big difference between the systems that Apple is running benchmarks on in that page; Mac OS X. The systems that they're benchmarking against are running Windows.
Lastly, I figure that the performance on those systems is as listed. Apple's big move here is to avoid the debacle that happened with Motorola and the G4's. IBM told Apple 2 years ago that the G5 would be at 3Ghz by summer of last year. Apple decided to shop around.

Myths and Games
An excellent article over at Game Matters talking about Myth and how it is incorporated into gaming. However, he also really covers myths and how they relate to us as human beings. Some good reading as well as some decent commentary.
In his book, The Key, James Frey writes, "Beowulf’s heroic deeds convey to the other members of the tribe how they must act. They, like Beowulf must be self-sacrificing, and brave, fight evil, and so on. Heroes are our models: their stories convey to each succeeding generation the cultural values of the tribe."
If you can convince an individual to go to his personal death so the group has a better chance of living, that’s a very powerful and effective societal tool.
By definition, we are the biological descendents of the tribes who told stories to survive. Via: Game Matters
I'm definitely saving some of this for when I talk to Lillian about stories and storytelling and what they're useful for. (She's very much in a "what's all this good for?" stage.)
