Reading Ms. Rory

O.K. rory's a "he" but I liked the title, sue me.

Just another quick episode of "people that Ian likes to read, and you should too"

Sadly, my subscription list in NetNewsWire has gotten long, and Rory is still tucked away in my "test subscriptions" group that I made on the suggestion of someone else out there. It's a place where you put new subscriptions while you're trying them out, and the theory is, that after you decide you hate them, you delete them, or, alternately, you decide you love them and drop them into one of your many, neatly organized folders.

Well...um...it kinda doesn't work that way. At least for me. What it really means is that I've got this "catchall" group that I never get to because I start at the top and start reading, get interrupted, start again, get interrupted...you see the pattern here.

What really suxes about this is that you end up not getting to read a lot since people have articles set to expire, so you see the last flagged message as being like 4 weeks ago, and the oldest unread is like 2 days ago.

Now, what was I talking about? Oh yeah...Rory.

So, he's got a great article on writing music. It's a good read, I'm gonna save it to relate to my daughter. One excerpt:

Learning how to play the instrument – how to hit the keys or fret the guitar – isn’t a huge challenge. If you have enough hand-eye coordination to play video games, or baseball, or whatever, then you have everything you need to play an instrument.

Once you’ve gotten started with that, the rest is just finding a method that works for you.

That's just an excerpt. Go read his site.

This also just inspired me to move him to one of my groups.

Yay!

Forces of Order: 1
Forces of Chaos: 6,273

Hmm. I'd better work on that score....
