webScheduler Update
It was a long week with webScheduler. I am fighting coders-block.
At times, I just cannot seem to write a line.
The work that I did complete seems less fruitful now. I spent a lot of time last week, experimenting with letting javaScript handle much of the processing. The javaScript was being used to build pull-down menus and select the appropriate values based on the current time.
After doing the work, adding in various bits of browser specific code and getting it to work for current browsers. I realized that I could do the work from the server with little penalty (since the server is local). The biggest plus with using the server is that the code will work and I don't have to create conditionals to deal with half-a-dozen browser/platform specific problems.
So, where are we?
First, the calendar generating code is completed. It is cleaned up and runs quickly. I can generate a calendar for any month between January 1905 and January 2040.
The code for adding events is nearly complete. The form stencil is done and 80% of the data handling code is done. Once this is complete, I will tackle the daily and weekly view of the events.
After that is done, I'll start on developing the Manila plugin to display event data (as well as the xml-rpc code to upload data from Radio to Manila). I will also look into writing an RSS feed that people can subscribe to.
By the end of next week, I hope to have the event entry and display complete.
