Water Wars. Bottled gold? Should you buy, invest, or even drink it...

Here's how it currently stacks up against its competitors, in terms of consumption per person in 2002:

BeverageGallons Per Person
Carbonated soft drinks54.0
Beer22.6
Milk22.6
Coffee21.9
Bottled water21.1
[The Motley Fool]

What's the common denominator in all these beverages?

Water

Imagine how much any of these beverages of choice will cost when water is as scarce as oil. What will we do when there is only a thirty year supply of potable water. Given our current leanings, it should be pretty clear that the US will annex Canada just to feed our thirst. Sorry.

Think about this folks. The end of fresh water is the end of Civilization. Why did the Anasazi leave the Valley of the Sun (currently Phoenix)? Where will the millions who live in Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada go when the well runs dry? Power up your state militias because the hords are coming.

It's not a pretty sight.

So we are ignoring it.

10:23AM. Logging off from California. Not sure when the next update will be. Seeya soooon! [Scripting News]

This reminds me of when my folks started their temporary exile in Oklahoma and Texas. Pop said that by moving to Oklahoma, he was increasing the average IQ of both states.

I am guessing that Dave Winer's move to Harvard has the opposite effect.

I am all for people moving out of California (Listen folks, it costs too much to live and do business here and it's too damn crowded, leave already). But by losing Dave, the state and the region becomes less important.

Happy Trails, Dave
