Not convinced that there is a human impact on the earth's environment, the Bush administration continues to stick it's head in the sand. The American people and the world should expect something better. The sooner the Bush administration is a footnote, the better.

In 1990, Don and Rosie were going to climb Mt Shasta, so I said that I would join them. I packed my gear and drove from Los Altos (el. 120 ft) to the mountain, found the trailhead and hiked up to our base camp at 9000 ft.
The next morning we started out, trudging up the the slope with a few hundred other folks. I discovered that day that I don't like mountain climbing. I worked for seven hours hiking up through the snow. Around 1:00 pm I looked at the last 162 ft. I was taking a step and catching my breath two minutes later. I decided to stop taking steps and catch my breath.
So I have been to 14,000 ft, but I haven't been to the top of Mt Shasta. I can live with that.
