Since upgrading my Mac OS to 10.3.5, I cannot mount older CDs, or copies of new CD's on my computer. Both new and copied CD's (for personal use and testing only) run fine on my notoriously buggy Lombard G3 laptop running 10.3.
More disturbing is that new software image files do not mount either. So it appears that I am left with a system that I cannot upgrade.
There have been a couple of similar reports on VersionTracker. While I wondered there if it was a DRM issue, it appears to be more limited than you would expect from that.
This is the first problem that I have had with an OS X upgrade. The thing that I find most disturbing is that I can't get phone support for the problem because I purchased my system and hardware too long ago. I could look for the problem on the support website or spend $50 for Apple to open a case.
The problem is that I didn't have a problem until they upgraded the system and apparently no one has reported the problem to Apple or Apple hasn't yet posted the reports. I did find the reports on VersionTracker through Google.
I bristle some at the fact that Apple introduced the upgrade and won't provide support on problems it generates.
